About - Skipness Smokehouse

In 1988 Fran opened the Skipness Seafood Cabin to provide delicious local seafood, home made scones and cakes for walkers in the area and visitors to the historic Skipness Castle. This is now run by Skipness Estate.

In 1990 Tim and Fran opened Creelers Restaurant on the near by Isle of Arran, in 1992 Arran Smoked Products was setup when the first smokehouse was added, to compliment the quality of fresh produce available in the restaurant.

Creelers Restaurant on Arran was followed by sister restaurants in the heart of Edinburghs old town in 1995, and then in Chelsea, London in 2000.

Now without their restaurants, they have come full circle and returned to Skipness. They decided to undertake the project of converting the old estate workshop situated by the 12th century Skipness Castle into a new purpose built smokehouse.

Tim fishing with the “Julie-Anne” , works closely with C.O.A.S.T (Arran Community Sea Bed Trust) in and around the first marine conservation area in Scotland catching lobster ,crabs, langoustine and other local shellfish in a sustainable manner.

Shellfish is available for purchase on Lamlash Pier in the summer or at the Edinburgh Farmers Market on Castle Terrace.

SMOKEHOUSE SHOP

A visit to Skipness Smokehouse offers the chance you experience the visitors walk way where the processes and people involved in the production of our smoked products are able to be viewed through observation windows.

Customer can puchase the full range of Smoked Product including our premium quality, award winning, Scottish smoked salmon and a variety of gifts for all ages, at the smokehouse shop.
